   ~Qi Gong~

Qi, pronounced "chi" means energy. Gong means work and preserverance of cultivation.

Qi Gong is the ancient Chinese art of cultivation of vital energy.

Long term practice of Qi Gong is helpful in building the immune system, endurance of physical strenght, emotional, mental healing and spiritual development. In China, Qi Gong is often  taught as the foundation of the martial arts.

~Qi Gong Practice, Wuji Gong  and Qi Gong Therapy, Meta Physical Acupuncture and Massage combine clearing and balancing of the energy of the client and the transmission of Universal Qi.

My training began in Atlanta, GA in 2001 while I was attending Massage Therapy School and studying Healing Touch. While actually taking someone I knew to a renowned Healer on the far north side of Atlanta, I had the honor to met Grandmaster Ku of the Hop Gar School of Kung Fu. He asked me what I was currently up to in my life and I told him about the massage therapy school and Healing Touch. He told me I needed to learn Qi Gong.He then took the time to teach me right then what I later learned was Shaloin Qi Gong. These forms he told me to practice for a month and to see if I became aware of Qi, and if so to come back and he would teach me more.

I pracised what he taught me everyday and was so amazed at what I felt and what I was seeing. Each time I returned to see grandmaster Fu he watched me preform what he had taught me previously, then he taught me new forms as well as healing work on others.  As it turned out I soon located a Qi Gong School only 3 miles from where I lived which was one of Grandmaster Fu`s  deciples` training facility, Here I met Thai Chi Knight Ed Armstrong and periodically again would see grandmaster Ku on his visits to the school. At this time my Practitioner and Qi Gong Massage training began. I attended 2-3 classes per week and did discipline training daily.

Some classes were very quite and Zen like and others were hard and incorporated Kung Fu energy, which I really loved. All of the teaching would be to enhance the massage therapy that I would do.Linda Wagner, Sifu`s wife began teaching me about Chinese herbs and the herbal connection to health and Qi Gong history. Sifu Armstrong began teaching me the Hop Gar and Da Dao Chan Gong, also called Emei Linji Qi Gong. This style of Qi Gong originated some 800 years ago from the temples of Mt. Emei in Szechuan Province bordering on Tibet and combines Taoist and Buddhist Qi Gong.

The following year I also began studying with Grand Master Foo Wei Zhong, the 13th lineage holder of the Emei Linj School of Qi Gong when he came to teach in Atlanta. We moved to New Mexico in 2001 and I continued my practice and went back to Atlanta the following year to see Sifu Armstrong again to complete my Qi Gong Massage training. I taught Qi Gong in Ruidoso for free to any students that were interested for 2 years. At this time no one in New Mexico knew what Qi Gong was and there were few students.

In 2004, in Tuscan, Arizona I trained with Grand Master Foo again and completed my first teacher certification of training of Dao Chan Gong. This level of training certifies the instructor to teach and share the benefits of  Wuji Gong and use healing Qi Gong techniques taught by Grand Master Foo. The practice of Wuji has been passed down through the lineage holders of the Da Dao Chan Gong School.  Grandmaster Foo has only been teaching this to the general public in the last 20 years. Since 2004 I have been teaching Wuji to students and when appropriate using Qi Gong Healing techniques for self care and in my massage practice.

Qi Gong classes are held at The Ruidoso Yoga Studio located at Mountain Top Plaza in Ruidoso on Mechem Street, as well as other arranged locations. Classes last 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. The beginning classes may include one-hour  Wuji Gong and can be modified for disabled people if it is found that it is too demanding physically.1 1/2 hour or longer classes may also combine meditation, chanting, self-massage, Zen and some harder forms or light yoga assanas, depending on the student.

Classes are held Wednesday afternoons at 4:30 , $12.00 per class. Private lessons and Advanced Lessons are available.
